Biking Information:
Heather Oaks and I put together a list of biking trails around Purdue and Indiana. We have reviewed and added as much infomation as wel could about each of these mountain biking spots. The reviews are in Heather and My words. If you would like to add, argue, or review trails please write it down and let me (David Nelson) know! Thanks and I hope this helps!
- Town Run
Location: 96th St on North side of Indy
Drive Time: 1 hour
Review: This is the spot for starting out in my opinion. This has a lot of turns, a couple steep climbs, and slightly changing terrain (dirt to sand). Very fast trail when weather is right, trail is on the White River so flooding can be a problem. It’s just a great ride any time.

Location: Danville, IL
Drive Time: 1 ¼ hours
Review: Really fun place to ride. The trail is about as twice as hard as Town Run due to hard steep climbs. There are also two deep valleys to cross, which can be quite fearsome if you ride with fear. The last section (unless you want to do section of death) is a super sweet fast downhill, where you can easily get up to 25 mph, just watch out for that one poorly placed tree! Kickapoo presents some of the more advanced mountain biking in Mid-West. Also trail markings are a bit hard to follow so keep a map on you! More Info - Logansport
Location: Logansport, IN
Drive Time: 45 min.
Review: Before you even set foot on a trail you will have to throw down $7.50 big ones to bike here. What else can you do with that money? Buy a tube or a water bottle or some lube or a bunch of Cliff shots or 6 totino’s frozen pizzas or a 6 pack. My point, I do not agree with the high fee of biking here. Then again I was chased out of the park for protesting this fee so I’m biased…

Location: Portage, IN
Drive Time: 1 ½ hours
Review: Not a bad trail. Markings were very hard to follow (i.e. one arrow was in the middle of a creek). Pretty good terrain, would consider it a bit more on the hard side due to quick changing terrain. - Rum Village
Location: South Bend, IN
Drive Time: ~ 2 hrs
Review: Trail is VERY hard to locate, it’s in the middle of a subdivision sort of. Trail needs to be maintained better, if it was would make an awesome trail. Overhanging vegetation is the biggest problem here. Could be a beginner trail, but be ready to sweat it out due to some long hill climbs in the later ½ of the trail. - Wapehani
Location: Bloomington Indiana (At IU)
Drive Time: ~ 2 hrs
Review: TBA

Location: Gnaw Bone Indiana (Close to Nashville)
Drive Time: ~ 2 hrs
Review: Tons of trails for different levels of skill. It is easy to get lost and separated due to poor trail markings. But with a map there isn’t a problem. Some areas need to be reconstructed. But over all a cool place to ride and the terrain that you go through is truly amazing. Sometimes you’ll be up on a hill over looking the hills of Nashville and then you’ll be running down a single track along a creek. Beginners can ride with advanced because a lot of harder trails cut off from the beginner and then run back into the beginner trails later.

Review: Personally I like this trail. It has some fallen logs across the trail with other logs packed onto them making a little obstacle. It can be really muddy after a little rain.
