However, after Sunday, December 28, you will be charged a late fee of five dollars per person to register. You are also encouraged to sign up soon because it is likely that the race will fill up. We have an absolute cap on the number of racers and once this is reached, no more will be allowed to register.

General POCAR 2009 info:POCAR, or Purdue Outing Club Adventure Race, is a 48 hour orienteering race held over Martin Luther King weekend in Southern Indiana. This year’s race will be held in the Hoosier National Forest in the Hickory Ridge trail area. The race will begin at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan 17, 2009 at Maumee Scout Camp, and end at 12:00 p.m. Monday, Jan 19, 2008. There will be ~2-3 fire/water checkpoints, as well as several mystery events. Teams will be given UTM coordinates for checkpoints, and must be able to plot and navigate to the points on their own! So make sure that there are at least 1 or 2 people on your team that can do this and are capacle of orienteering– no assistance will be provided on the day of the race! Volunteers will be constantly patrolling roads during the race in case a team is lost, hurt, or decides to drop out of the race.
Race fees and division information:
Checks must be made out to PURDUE OUTING CLUB
- Collegiate Division - $45 per racer
- Collegiate teams must consist of ungraduates, graduates, or proffesional students only.

IMPORTANT NEWS!
Please note that we have 47-48 teams registered and there are only ~30 campsites available at Mason Ridge and Oak Ridge Campgrounds in Morgan-Monroe State Forest (Scout Ridge is reserved for volunteers). This should be enough campsites if teams share campsites whenever possible. If you cannot find a spot to camp there is also primitive camping on Low Gap Road in Morgan-Monroe and sites nearby at Yellowwood State Forest. And again, parking is limited so carpool as much as possible, and if you camp please reserve your campsite for the duration of the race and leave your car there! We are working out a shuttle system in case we run out of parking spaces. If you cannot find a place to park when you show up please check in with volunteers at Scout Ridge and we will instruct you where to park.
don't steal. thanks.
